Voices from the Data2Value Executive Dialogue: Petra Wilson from Health Connect Partners, UK.
At the Data2Value Executive Dialogue, Petra Wilson from Health Connect Partners reflected on what is needed to truly realize the value of health data.
Her key takeaway: success depends on three pillars – the tool set, the skill set, and the mindset. She noted that the legal framework (tool set) is already in place. With the AI Act, the GDPR, and the European Health Data Space (EHDS), the EU provides a strong foundation for the responsible use of data in healthcare.
However, the skill set required to apply these tools effectively are still developing. While knowledge and capacity are growing, there remains a need for a deeper understanding of data legislation – especially so that healthcare professionals feel confident and secure when using data.
Finally, Wilson emphasized that the mindset must evolve. A new way of thinking is essential to unlock the full potential of data and artificial intelligence in healthcare. The ultimate goal, she concluded, is to use data to transform health systems for the better, putting patients at the center and making healthcare more resilient for the future.
Petra Wilson is the Managing Director of Health Connect Partners and shared her insights on the legal, professional, and cultural dimensions of data use at the Data2Value Executive Dialogue.
