As part of Lemonmint’s Digital Maturity Tour 2025, a two-day study visit will take place in Scotland, bringing together international and national leaders to explore how digital health innovation is transforming diabetes care.

The visit is hosted by the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI), Scotland’s national innovation hub for digital health and social care. The delegation is led by Professor Peter Schwarz, President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), whose visit underscores the growing importance of digital maturity in global diabetes strategies.

With diabetes affecting over 540 million people worldwide, this stop will strengthen international collaboration and drive forward digital transformation in diabetes care.

The study tour aims to:

  • Highlight Scotland’s integrated and digitally mature ecosystem for diabetes prevention and care
  • Present innovations in AI, self-management, and national data infrastructure
  • Explore policy and clinical strategies for improving outcomes in diabetes through digital tools
  • Enable exchange between leaders in healthcare, policy, research, and industry

Programme Overview

Day 1 – Glasgow

Hosted at the DHI Headquarters, this full-day programme brings together leaders from government, health systems, academia, and industry to explore the digital transformation of diabetes care. The agenda features:

  • Opening keynote by the President of the International Diabetes Federation
  • Strategic insights into Scotland’s national policy and research agenda on diabetes
  • Deep dives into health data infrastructure and digital maturity in care delivery
  • Showcases of innovative solutions including AI, precision medicine, and self-management tools
  • High-level panel discussions on patient empowerment, sustainability, and system transformation
  • Closing roundtable on Scotland’s global leadership role in diabetes innovation
  • Evening networking reception

Day 2 – Edinburgh

The second day shifts focus to Scotland’s data ecosystem and its potential for innovation. Activities include:

  • Breakfast meeting at the Scottish Parliament with cross-party leadership
  • Hosted visit to the Edinburgh Futures Institute and Research Data Scotland
  • Presentations and discussions with stakeholders from Public Health Scotland, University of Edinburgh, and the Safe Haven network
  • Reflections on data accessibility, research enablement, and strategic collaboration opportunities
